Got my 300 gallon acrylic tank today. It has two bulkheads - one in each rear corner. I have no use for them, and obviously they take up space inside the tank - is there a danger in cutting them out with a SawZall or something like that?
It also has holes in the bottom, inside each bulkhead - I plan to plug those up with squares of plexiglass. I have done this before, in a 100 gallon tank with no problem.
Let me know about the bulkhead situation.
Thanks!

I believe the "bulkhead" you are reffering to is actually your overflow box. Bulkheads are just a fitting that you put on drilled holes to connect pvc or other tubing. A pic would help.

Yes, the overflow box - thank you for clarifying that ! I've never had them before.

So, can I SawZall them out without hurting the tank ? (They were added later, not built with the tank when it was built.)

Yes you can cut them out. Although it will pretty ugly unless you remove it all and sand the acrylic to polish it out.

If they were siliconed in, that would be easy enough - but no - they are welded in.
There really is no purpose in keeping them if I don't use them right ? I am losing 6x6 inches of good swimming space.
