Picked this one up at the lfs, has some fin damage but ive been wanting one for awhile and it's big enough for the community tank.
Roughly 6-7" I'm sure it'll color up as it settles in. Opinions on gender much appreciated.
oooohhh, nice. Although I agree w/
Stanzzzz7, it still has the coloration of a male......I notice none of the females I ever owned had the large concentrations of aqua-blue in such amounts or it was interrupted more. Likely a female, but don't rule out the possibility of a male.
Also, the fins my heal imperfect - the pectoral fins show a bit of misshaping typical of inbreeding, and the dorsal is usually to follow, so you may want too think long and hard about breeding her before you do. It's not by any means a bad case, but I can still see it a little so if you do breed it, make sure it has a flawless mate of completely different bloodline, then you will probably have to cull the misshapen fry and use them for feeders or whatnot. The strongest and healthiest usually outgrow their sibling quickly, anyway so it should be easy.
