So, about 2 months ago I was at the local petco, I saw a tiger loach and got interested in adding it to my school of 5 clown loaches. The clowns are well established and nearing the 4 inch mark. They only had one so was bummed about it since I know most loaches like to be in larger groups so they can socialize and for a hierarchy. Then I was told that there were also some skunk loaches. They had 6 of them for just $2 a piece... they were so tiny so I decided I would add them all at once to my 55 gallon tank.
After doing research after I purchased them I began to get afraid. Despite their small size, skunk loaches are supposed to be some of the nastiest little loaches around. I must admit though, I haven't seen much aggression out of them. Also strangely I thought my Senegal would have eaten 1 or 2 of the smallest members, but I do a weekly count and all 6 remain accounted for. The clowns don't seem bothered by them, and the skunks definitely are more visible, the clowns all hide in a giant rock, but the skunks run out to feed with about a dozen rozie barbs, a Senegal bichir, a Dennison barb, a royal pleco, and a royal farlowella. These little terrors have not been terrible, and as they have started growing, I am noticing that their white color is starting to show slight dark vertical stripes. Definitely an active little loach, I think I will hunt down a tiger loach and a few zebras and see how they all get along.
