I have some questions about the Adonis. I bought one today and that is about 5.5" I must have had it confused with the hystrix, galaxias or one of the smaller growing polka dot species.
From what I am reading they get very aggressive and grow to like 3 feet long.
The tank I am putting it in is 100 gallons and currently has a big Oscar, 7 silver dollars, a full grown Raphael catfish, and a big Gibby 12" that I am going to re home due to its size and aggression. I am worried that when the Adonis gets larger it will end up harassing the Raphael and killing it. I am reading all kinds of horror stories about these plecos.
Until my Gibb is rehomed I have put the adonis into a a 50 gallon with some angel fish and a 7" common pleco.
Will I wake up with a tank full of eaten fish and a fat pleco? or will I be okay for a little bit while I attempt to exchange the pleco for a smaller species.
Both tanks have adequate hiding spots.

It will be fine. I had one that got to like 12" and it was only aggressive twords other pleco's, and no harm was ever done. It was only aggressive during feeding or if anyone came near his cave. I serously doubt you will have a rouge pleco killer on your hands!

Plecos are harmless to other fish and only aggressive to other fellow plecos...However they will defend themselves from other fish if it is attacked. But do note that Adonis plecos eat alot and if you have driftwood be sure to find alot of droppings from the adonis because they naw on wood like theres not tomorrow similar to royal plecos

Bwah, hah. You'll find out soon whether or not yours is a typical Adonis. My Adonis stabs at other fish for fun. Even if there's no food and he's nowhere near his cave, he'll tense up and pounce the angelfish or the jurupari. They are especially fond of assaulting other plecos, though. I can keep no other pleco with him. It would be murder. But hopefully you bought a pacifist hippie adonis.

mine is over 16 inches and not aggressive at all.. they are very beautiful... good luck with him..

This is totally wrong.
I have had 3 seperate Sailfin plecos that would side swipe my oscar and sometimes jump at my Silver dollars. It usually stays under its log cave though.

The adonis will be the only pleco in the tank. However it will be with a 10" Raphael Catfish in my Oscar tank.
It has not bothered the angel fish or the other pleco in its temporary tank yet
