I have a 55g tank and I want 2 cichlids(no other fish ) I love red devils and red terrors but Im told they are to big for my tank. Can you please give me some sugestions of fish like these thanx. P.S. or If you know of any fish like these that would look cool I like reds but im opne for anything.

If you like red, go with firemouth. Or there's sals as mentioned, jd, severums. There are also a lot of smaller cichlids that would look great as well.....acara, keyholes, festivum, hrp, red hump geo......lots to choose from, just pick a couple you like. I'm just skimming the surface with the more common species. You could go a step further and get something a little more on the rare side.
maybe a couple of convicts ..they are pretty, hardy and grow the right size.. also Jack Dempsey's ..even the rarer electric blue ones.. severums are beautiful... so many you can choose from even though smaller in size..big in color and attitude.
severums are good mostly because they are gentle giants that can tolerate different types of tankmates
Sevs are awesome, you have to see them grown out to really appreciate them. I had a pair of firemouths and a pair of cons in a 55 once. You can't go wrong with any of them IMO. A male firemouth with a couple females would be nice, they really look cool when they grow out and color up. Maybe a couple of sevs, a firemouth, and a con would work?
some saxtilis types of pikes can be kept in a 55. you could do 1 crenicichla sveni (pike cichlid) can live for life in a 55 with a community of convicts or firemouths (3-5)
