New African cichlid tank decorated and stocked!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think the 2 blue barred fish can be expected to clash eventually.

I would do 20 demasoni in the 72" tank.

I would expect the Victorians to be intimidated by the other 2 species of aggressive mbuna.

Yellow labs? Acei?

If the tomatoes were not there, Maingano? Msobo or Estherae?

I've had the tomatoes in for a week now and they are very shy. Do you think they are maybe a bit to peaceful to hold their own in this tank?

I added 4 yellow labs and one male sunshine peacock yesterday. They look amazing.

Beautiful setup! Sounds like it's going to be an awesome tank as you stock it.
Thanks! It's the most natural looking tank I've done, and I'm quite happy with the results. I didn't opt for the sand though Becuase it's such a hassle switching substrates

Looks great, nice photography.
It has been my observation in 16 years of keeping African cichlids that is often easier keeping three species with 10 of each than 10 species with three of each. I am not saying you need 30 fish or only three species; just making a generalization that it is often the combinations of fish that causes problems. It is easier to find three species that get along, rather than ten.

Stunning looking tank. Great job. I did some research for demosanis when wanted to get them and I found out people didn't have any luck even with like 10 of them. You have a huge tank. This fish looks very beautiful so maybe get 20 of them. In my opinion demosani is the best looking cichlid ever after frontosa. They really look like some saltwater fish like clowns.
