Ok I am getting rid of many of my Peacocks and was looking for ideas of some rare Africans maybe I should get. I have a few rare Vics and this will give me the chance to focus on them and some others. I have a few other things in mind as well but they aren't Africans.

What would be some good fish to try to find that aren't all that common?

Try to find some Prognathochromis Perrieri so you can sell me some fry!!! Really though they are very cool vics that are extinct in the wild but there are some people somewhere who have them and you have great connections. What about some of the Madagascar species? Most of those are rare and endangered.

Some Mads are easy and others take tons of room and are pretty aggressive. I would stick with Vics as they are a little more manageable. Get Active on HCCC and it will be a great resource for some of the rarer lines of Vics.

I'd give some of the Madagascar cichlids a chance, even the common ones like Paratilapia are still very fascinating fish that are not particularly widespread

So I put out some feelers to see about the Prognathochromis Perrieri. All I can come up with is a guy with 4 females. Nobody can find any males and the females aren't for sale. I will keep looking. Any other species I should look for? I am not familiar with Madagascar cichlids. I have never kept any before. What would be good from that group?

Wow...your good!!! You found more then I could but I know you have some connections. There has got to be some out there somewhere. I also don't know much about them but the Paretroplus Menarambo is extinct in the wild and is very cool/beautiful looking. They get pretty big though...about 10"

I would look more into tangs than anything else, there are some rare tangs that will provide a challenge and should be a bit more popular.
