Well I ended up taking a trip out of state today to hit up a few fs. Ended up picking up nice plants, cherry shrimp and these guys. Guy who sold them said they were a vieja type. Can anyone get specific?

Third picture was the best I could get of the little one, it is pretty damn fast and is hiding behind all of my plants...

looks kinda like a bifa to me because it has some gold tone to it. I thought syns were more red even when they were juvies. I could be wrong though lol

The guy who sold it to me said it was rare??!! (don' t they say that for all)All I can remember him saying was that it was a form of vieja. But wanted to get the real name to do some more indepth research.

100% vieja synspillum

sorry man but there is no way to determine that at such a small size. vieja melanarus look exactly the same as juveniles and only once they grow and start showing adult colors can you determine the difference between the 2.

Now I will say that it is either melanarus, synspilus or a hybrid. synspilus and melanarus are the only 2 that have that short black horizontal stripe that only covers the back half or third of the body. The other "red head" types have a full length horizontal bar.
