I recently picked up an adult angel from someone on Craigslist and added it to my planted 48 gallon setup. Its tankmates are 19 tetras, 5 otos, 1 blue paradise, 2 german rams, and 1 bolivian ram. He swims around and looks fine but I have yet to see him eat anything in almost a week now. I have tried feeding it flakefood, freezedried bloodworms, and sinking cichlid pellets. So far he hasn't gone for any of them. I also have not seen him even pay any attention to the dither fish. I did have some ghost shrimp in there that have seemed to disappear. It's possible he has been just eating the ghost shrimp when I am not looking but its hard to tell since the blue paradise was already working his way through the ghost shrimp before I added the angel. The angel perks up when I come near the tank like he wants to eat but he doesn't react to the food at all. Any advice on how I can get him to start eating some of the food would be appreciated.

I'd try some frozen brine shrimp or call the previous owner to ask him what he was feeding...............On the other hand, that's one of the nicest angels I have ever seen.

Yeah, he's a gorgeous fish, especially considering I only spent $5 to buy him. I bought some frozen brine shrimp today and he ate about one shrimp. At least he actually put something in his mouth. I'm going to email the guy I bought him from to see what the angel is used to eating. He must've been eating the ghost shrimp because I had about 20 in there before adding the angel, and between him and the blue paradise there aren't any ghost shrimp left. I doubt the blue paradise ate that many in such a short period of time by himself.

He most likly did eat the shrimp. I would just continue feeding your fish as you normally would, he'll come around eventually. Provided he is healthy in all other respects he'll eat.

Frozen bloodworms also seem to be a food angels can't turn down. They're not very nutritious but could get a feeding response started.

He is the only angel in the tank. He came from a tank with 4 other angels so he might be a little bummed out being the only angel now, but I'm sure he will get used to it. I only got one because I am planning to add some discus down the road once the plants have grown out and the tank has been able to maintain consistent water parameters for a while. I know some people advise against doing them together but in terms of water parameters and temperament they should work together fine. I'm not in a rush to add them though. My first concern is getting this guy to eat more.
