I just moved into a new apartment and both of my 75 gal's are at 83 degrees. One is Mbuna and the other a peacock tank. Is this temp ok? What's the highest they can be on? I have no need for heaters anymore but it makes me nervous.

you must be on an upper floor! airate the hell out of the tank. keep up on your water changes. dont overfeed, dont overcrowd.

You still need to use the heaters. If the room temp decreases on a cold day, so will the tank temp. I made this mistake on my 75g. I use a big Mag drive pump, and it always keeps the water in the lower 80s. I left on vacation for a week and someone decided it would be okay to turn the thermostat down. I came home to a 66 degree tank full of wild caught Geos. I feel that I was very lucky when none of them got sick.

I live on the 27th floor. I'm gonna turn off one the heaters in the living room to see if it helps

BTW, I keep my 75g around 84 and my gar tank around 78. My other tanks share the same water with the use of hang on overflows and a pump, and I keep them around 78 as well.

Both of my tanks have 2 fluval 405's each and 2 maxi-jet powerheads with filter attachments. I dont point them up because it makes a lot of bubbles in my tank. I have them pointed outwards towards the sides of the tank. I have very good water movement but it looks like I'm gonna have to buy an air stone and a pump for each tank.
