My plywood build is nearing completion and I'm starting to think of how I would like to stock it. Something that has perplexed me since the beginning is how I'm going to heat it. Well I've more or less decided that I don't want to.

The tank is 7'x2'x2.5' and I'd like to know what species of fish are available to me that will be comfortable at room temperature.

I was considering doing a native tank. There's something like 140 species of fish here in Northern Ontario. I know where I can get Bullhead very easily and we had a tank full of them when I was a kid they were active and easy to maintain.

I would like some color in the tank tho and most of our fish here are dark blacks, browns and greens.

We keep the house at 70 year around.

Bullheads, Crappies, sunfish, etc.

Giant gourami, got a soft spot for them

Not sure if you can get darters but they can make for a colourful tank full of natives.
