New tank very cloudy, no problem........The cloud is a bunch bacteria that has not settled in......It is a bacteria bloom.........Usually goes away within a week..........

You should provide more information on stocking...filtration...how long the tank has been up. Size of fish...feeding whatever you can. Picture might be good too. I would most likely guess you have an incomplete cycle though as well.

12 Oscars?? What kind of internal filter? How big is your tank? How long has it been setup? What are your readings?

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
PH

Light schedule? Feeding Schedule? Water changes?

For starters...

Cloudy water could be a sign that the water turnover rate isn't high enough. Could be that you simply need more filtration. It could also just be a normal cycle for a new tank.

On a side note, with 12 Oscars, there better be a ton of filtration on that tank. Oscars could be small now, don't know about that, but as they get bigger they are going to produce a lot of waste.

Hell I thought I was pushing it with 2 oscars being moved into a 6x1.5x2 tank....

I woudl think you would need like 2 FX5s, a sump, and some HOB filters to keep up with 12 oscars.

Hi,

The cloudiness is due to bacterial bloom. Get two HUGE sponge filters (attached to air-pumps with at least 4 liter/hr output) and keep them running 24x7.

The sponge filters will help speed-up the process for the cloudiness to go away by giving additional medium for the bacteria to culture.

This has worked for me.. The large sponge filters are about 250 bucks in Bombay and are about 6 inches in height (i.e. just the sponge is 6 inches)

Good luck,
Sid
