so i fanally broke down and bought myself a Silver Aro ...... cute guy , eating fine, about 4" and after about 2 hrs of getting hassled by my Killi he was well off and swimming enjoyably in my 125.
Right bfor going to bed i checked on him again , all was swell, fine and dandy........ untill i was woken up with "Ur new fish commited suicide......."
WTF..... i asked if he was still floppin around (couldda just happend like 3 min. ago, i figured it didn't hurt to ask) ...... NOPE , he's dried up and his eyeball looks like its about to pop out ....... &$&@&*^%(&^%m so i asked my 4 year old to grab him and flush him.... sorry if this sounds Macabre but i really didn't wanna deal with it.
/SIGH..... so thats my lesson learned in life .....
keep ur tank covered !!!!!!!!
..... so i ended up getting a new one this morning. he's 2.5" but eating very well.... i did cover that damn tank now and i just hope my other guys leave him alone!
Just thought i would share that with u guys ..... have fun laughing!
cheers!

Sorry about that. Lesson learned the hard way unfortunately. Good luck with this one and lets see pics.

Mine committed suicide yesterday too.......he was around 7"-8" and around a .5" thick. I can believe he got through from just one of the littlest hole in the tank.... :(
Im so sad..... :(

I had both my 5" Silver and 12" Silver do suicide run's on me. Luckily I keep my Aro Tank in my bedroom so even though I was asleep both times I heard them(light sleeper). Though I didn't have to be with the 12", cause he came through the canopy to get out. He didn't break it or injure himself(thank god!), but it scared the @8#% out of me. He managed to catch some good air getting over to my laundry basket on the floor. It was funny cause I woke up noticed he was missin from the tank(hard to not miss the 12" fish missin from you're tank), but couldn't find him. His struggling inside the basket of clothes made it jostle a little and that's when I noticed him under my work shirt. His struggling was makin him sink deeper into the clothes. Anyway I soon retrieved him and returned him to his tank. Sorry had to share it cause I didn't think he'd make it that far off of a jump or into such a unusual place.

:)
Someone should make a suicide resistant tank... surround your main tank with like a moat of like 12" of water.

Good luck with your aros. In a few months those crazy killis will probably end up in the aros belly. So if they mess with your baby they will get what they deserve. Unless you decide to move them of course.

I got flamed for asking repetitive questions on another part of the board, nice to know you don’t in the aro section.(I did get a bit agumentative though so maybe i deserved it!:naughty:)

Sorry for your silver, as you said it’s a lesson learnt. (That how it is spelt in the U.K. Dmopar 74:)).
Also a lesson for me form reading about others and how frequently it happens. While ordering my tank I made sure it’ll have a tight, heavy hood.
Hope you have better luck with your new fish.
