Thanks go out to LS2012 for a bunch of Ptychochromis sp tarantsy, expertly packed that arrived before 10AM.
These are sometimes referred to as the Madagascan eartheaters and are equivalent to the Central American Astatheros, and Thorichthys, or the South American Geophagines

I had Pty sp east coast gold a number of years ago and have been jonesing for the genus ever since.
Here's an adult east coast now long gone, I am looking forward to seeing what these new juvies will grow into

And a Pty oligacanthus , that was the fiest Madagascan to spawn successfully for me maybe 10 years ago.

Duane,
You're very welcome :-)
Looking great already, theyll darken up even more once they settle into their new home. I'm so pleased they are adjusting well and can't wait to see pics as they grow.
Best of luck & enjoy,
Laurie

Here's pics of their Parents, so stunning and graceful

This will be my 3rd time keeping Ptychochromis, in the past I've always found them to be fairly peaceful, and unless spawning almost meek compared to other cichlids they were kept with.

+1
Meek and docile are excellent words to describe Tarantsy. I've found mine to be the same. When a pair has a strong bond, its fascinating to observe. They will protect their spawn and each other with vigor.

Couple cleaner pics of the Pty. tarantsy.
My camera has been slow to respond the last few days, and then yesterday error99 appeared.
For any of you that experienced this, and were perplexed, I took a pencil and used the eraser to clean the gold contacts on the camera and lens, and the error message disappeared, and the camera started responding correctly again.

The addition of the P tarantsy has brought the Paratilapia andapa come out of their shell, they have seemed a bit paranoid and hid until the Ptychos joined the tank.

Duane, a very nice addition to your Madagascan collection. Interestingly enough, the adults look almost like a 50-50 blend of 'grandidieri and 'oligacanthus'.
