what type of plants do you think would do best in my tank i already have a few does anyone think im missing some stuff im open to any ideas you may have

get some java moss on the drift wood and some of that grass plant in the substrate try to find some larger plants too

Try some amazon swords. There is alot of variety of these kinds. But you gotta make sure your tank can support them. They need a nutrient rich substrate or fertilizers.
 
I hope these plants will survive those cichlids.
 
I dig your setup, very nice. I agree with the Java Moss. I'm considering it for my tank as well. I'm not too knowledgeable on the plants either tho. I've already killed one plant.

the java moss is on the go and i got another random plant that is working real good aswell ill post some pics of my plants progress in another month or so
...have you tried any new species that have worked out for you
i got 1 of my parrots out due to an unforseen illness and no one is diggin up plants any plus i got a little more strategic with my placement:D
