Any Suggestions on my new arow tank? Im getting 3 Silver and 2 Blacks all about 3".

How much experience in Arowanas do you have? Blacks are very fragile as babies and need very special water conditions in order to continue a healthy life, and being as how both black and silver come from different parts of the amazon their water requirements are both different there for young blacks don't do well in the same water as young silvers do, at least till there older and less sensitive. Secondly The size of the tank you will need will have to be HUGE, and aros aren't slow growers. I'm not trying to sound mean I'm just trying to tell you whats best for the aros, so that they don't die and you don't loose lots of $$$.

Blacks and silvers are both fragile as babies. Pristine water conditions are a must. These should be raised without any other tank mates until they are 6" long. With having 5 baby aros the aggression likely should be spread out among them. You will need to keep available a divided area or isolation tank available for problem individuals.

My recommendation would be a 75 gallon tank(48"x18"). Lower the waterline to 7" below the lid. Have lots of floating plants and go bare bottom. Make sure your filter intake is as low as you can get it, small aros can be sucked into/against it. Also use a submersible heater and keeping horizontal on the bottom of the tank. You will need to do enough water changes to keep the nitrates below 10ppm. You can also filter your water through peat moss.

Feeding of these babies is best done with freeze dried blood worms and quality flake foods. Avoid any foods the sink quickly and are hard or Sharp.

Start planning for a huge multi hundred gallon tank, you will need this tank to be ready in about 9 months. The footprint of this tank will need to be in th 8' x 4' range.

You're more then likely are going to have to split up the blacks until they reach around the 7"-10" mark. Also blacks don't grow as fast as the silvers.

Why would you say this?

Baby blacks grow just as fast as baby silvers IME. The slower growing blacks seem to be those that are WC at 10 to 12"
