Hello, i just picked up my very first dat, im so excited :D. It's 1-2 inches big. It seems very shy. My 1-2 inch flowerhorn keeps picking on it, so i had to separate the flowerhorn.

I have some questions
1) how can i get him up to eat?
2) if i bring the flowerhorn back, will it eventually stop chasing the Dat, or will it kill him?
3) He doesnt seem to move alot, he likes to stay still, is this normal?
4) what kind of a Dat is this? Can someone ID please.
thank you!!!!
Some of the pics are zoomed in.

Indo Datnoid
Keep the FH away dont ever put it back in it will kill the dat. Try market shrimp cut it into very small bits and see if he will take it. If he doesnt get him small feeders or blackworms. He is probably still streesed therefore staying in one place.

IT for sure -
Dats do not swim constantly, especially when small.
Blood worms are also rarely ignored, but like said above, it may take some time before
its comfortable

yup, IT. and ignore knightclaw. hes a spammer. post has been reported

How big is your flowerhorn? I had an IT in a 125g with (1) green terror, (2) jack dempseys, (4)africans, and (2) flowerhorns. The flowerhorns I had were smaller than the IT so they did not mess with him at all...The IT actually bullied the flowerhorns sometimes. But if the flowerhorns are bigger than the dat I would say take the flowerhorn out.

If your IT is not eating, I would start him on live feeders then try to get him on bloodworms after a few weeks. After u get him to take the bloodworms, u r pretty much home free.

Even if the FH is smaller it will triple the size of the dat in about 2 months.

This is true. The flowerhorns grow very fast. That is why I recently moved my IT to my new 150g set up. He's now in the tank with 2 thinbars, but he does not look as good as he did in the cichlid tank. Im thinking about raising my ph a little and c if that helps.

nice lil indo....
