NEW BABY DOVII'S

Hello,
I am bringing home my very first dovii, I keep and collect, Jaguars, JDs, oscars, pikes, red devils. These guys are so tiny and cute as a button lol. Both are no bigger then an inch long. I am very excited for these little guys I've brought home two of them to one day live in my 260 with my jags and JDs I am actually very interested to know when will they be showing so i can sex them, around what size?

around 3.5-4" it is somewhat noticeable mine started laying eggs around 3.5 so that really helps with sexing. I notice that my male has lots of spotting throughout the body, when they are small they all look the same, the females get more of a gold color. Good luck and have fun.

You should be able to get a good idea on there sex around 3". It might be hard to tell if you only have two.....if you have 5 or more you can get an idea of the males after keeping them for a couple weeks. Like the person above stated the males have a lot more spotting on there sides then the females. There body shape starts to differ around 3" or so also. The males start to show there colors when they are around 3" but really color up by 5-6". Good luck keeping them with other fish. My females have grown really slow!
