Between a Rock and a Hard Place...
I was at my lfs today and they had one little two inch endli....The guy there has had a few for awhile but now they are in a tiny tank with abunch of cichlids...The poor little guys external gills have already dissapeared and some of his back spines are missing...I took him home and have him in a little 10g growout. Thus far he hasnt taken any bloodworms...I half suspect he never got fed hes so skinny. Do you guys think he can pull through?

He can definitely pull through, bichirs are resiliant and can put up with a lot of abuse.

Feed it some tiny pieces of raw tilapia fillet, and he will bull up in no time. You may see 12" growth in the first year.

I got mines at around 3 inches on August 7, 2011. It took 6 months for it to reach 12 inches. It's the most fastest growing fish I have ever raised since small.

i have an 8 incher that came from the same place...like 4 months agoo....i think its the same batch...i put some bloodoworms in but he isnt interested...its like hes never eaten before. o.O

I have seen some fresh batches of baby endli around here in socal so i hope they are separate batches, but I have seen bichirs sit at an LFS for a while and stay really small from not getting enough food.

You may even try live feeder guppies just to get him to eat then switch him later.

I had to do that with my wild caught orino peacock bass. usually bichirs will never refuse tilapia though.

I just got 2 2in endlis and the sob's will not eat tilapia, red worms, massivors, cichlids gold, night crawlers, shrimp, silver sides,or convict's. I have had my larger ones go on hunger strikes but as skinny as theses guys are I am very surprised they haven't eaten yet

lol I just picked up three on Monday. I had a feeling you would pick some up too if they were available in AZ.

So far mine took some NLS pellets and small pieces of tilapia.

What is yoru setup like? I have black gravel and a floating plant for them to hang out in.

If you have bare bottom tank, you can try live worms?

i GOT TWO AT 2 INCHES ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO ONE IS EATING LIKE A CHAMP ANR GROWING SUPER FAST THO OTHER EATS BUT NOT NEARLY AS MUCH AND IS MUCH SMALLER. SMAE BATCH. BOTH ARE EATING TILAPIA AND SHRIMP BUT WILL NOT TOUCH MASSIVORE.
