Went to Petco in Lewiston, ID and saw these little guys. Only $3something and couldnt resist. Since I've had the worst luck with Columbian Cats thought I'd give these guys a try. Saved him from his ick ridden tank, have him in a hospital tank right now, can't wait for him to lose the ick

So... I was wondering what the growth rate is on these little guys. He is about 1.5" right now, and absolutely hoovering flake food.

It makes me so happy to see a baby cat actually eat!
Hopefully I'll have pics up soon.

your going to be really happy with this guy then cause they are eating machines. always on the move, Not the fastest growers but not to far behind you can expect to see it around a foot long by a year I beleive (haven't checked up on that so anyone else with some insight please feek free to correct me if I'm wrong)

My albino IR sharks all hit the 1 foot mark by the end of their 1st year. Growth slowed down considerably after that. Now, they're in the 18 inch range at 3 years old.

Thanks guys.

He's awesome, I can't wait for him to become a monster!

i know this one guy that had a ID shark for 25 years and grew about 2 feet long. then it jumped the tank and died.

it's really hard to say...i've had mine for about 2yrs and it's only up to about 4-5" in a very healthy tank...but my roommate has had two for almost a year now and they're reaching 12" each in a high nitrate, high everything tank.

Iv had mine for 6 months they have tripled there size. Feed feed feed them and they will get big fast. Anything under 1/2 a month something is wrong imo.

My smallest ID grew to a foot in a year. My oldest is almost 16 years at 26" He has grown a little bit every year. Once put into a pond he grew 2.5 inches in a year +. Food and environment will tell your fish tale.

I have noticed temp also plays a big part in their growth. I had my tank fairly cool for most of the last year and mine were growing slowly, but since I raised the temp they seem to be creeping up in size fairly quickly.
