I got a shipment of fish from rehoboth a few days ago.
I ordered 2 guinea endis (~12"), 2 chad endis (~7"), and 2 guinea laps (~12").

Here they are in 55g q-tank, and then they go into a 180 where they will reside with a volta endi and an ornate.

Heres endi #1

Endi #2

:hearts: :hearts: WOW...

those look like barred ones I saw, or are endi's the ones commonly named barreD?....
and if not, how can you tell the difference between the barred and the endli?

uggh, I can only tell my senegal and orante apart cause they look SO different.:)

Where's Anne when you need her?

nice

''Wheres Anne when you need her ?'' working on my tan lol.I hate common names anywyas its usually P.delhezi thats reffered to as barred bichirs due to
the prominent black vertical bars the easiest way to tell endis from delhezis is that endis are lower jaw species while delhezis are upper jaw.
upper jaw species have upper jaws that protruod past the lower jaw.
lower jaw species have the lower jaw protrouding past the upper jaw.
have a list
Upper Jaw Species-Upper jaw protrudes past lower jaw
P. palmas palmas ('palmas' bichir)- 13"
P. palmas polli ('marbled bichir)- 14"
P. palmas buettikoferi ('buettikoferi' bichir)- 13"
P. ornatipinnis ('ornate' bichir)- 27"
P. delhezi ('armoured' or 'delhez's' bichir)- 14"
P. senegalus senegalus ('Senegal' or 'Cuiver's' bichir)- 12"
P. senegalus meridionalis- 12"
P. retropinnis retropinnis ('retropinnis' bichir)- 14"
P. retropinnis lowei ('Lowe's' bichir)- 12"
P. weeksi ('week's' bichir)- 20"
P.teugelsi(new species not described yet)

Lower Jaw Species-Lower protrudes past upper jaw
P. endlicheri endlicheri ('saddled' or 'red' bichir)- 32", possibly more
P. endlicheri congicus ('giant' or 'congo' bichir)- 39"
P. lapradei ('Lapradei' bichir)- 24"
P. bichir bichir-30+ ''
P.ansorgii*
*There are only 3 known examples to exist and they are in museums its possible
this species is extinct.

glad ya asked huh lol?

I'm very glad and thank you.

I knew the barred where also the delhenzi..I'm just bad with NON common names.

I know I'm awful.

I don't get the upper lower jaw ordeal.
How can I tell??
Just by the pics??
Or do I have to watch them eat??
or do you mean like an over bite under bite??

sorry in advance.

you can tell by looking look at the lower jaw structure of an endy
and then look at the jaw structure your senegal you'll easily se the endy's lower jaw passes it upper jaw and your senegals upper jaw passes its lower jaw

Very nice fish :)
