The land of the pine
I got a new black crappie recently and he has been doing really well. For the first few weeks he was shy, only came out at night, and was bullied by my redbreast. Now he is out all the time and doesn't take crap from my redbreast. I guess they both realized the crappie is bigger and stronger. Tonight while I was feeding my redbreast pellets he tried to eat a few but spit them back out. They are just regular cichlid pellets, I forget what kind. Anyone have any ideas on what pellets he might eat? I will get some pictures tomorrow.

Those are some stunners!

Thanks, I'm really liking the crappie. I am thinking of getting a bigger tank for the pickerel and adding a white crappie too. Plus the pickerel has outgrown the 60 gallon really quick.

I've got a Crappie aswell who is the boss man of the tank, and the most active fish i have. He goes damn nuts for meal worms. he will eat a whole pack if i gave him it. I have mine on Frozen blood worms and live foods. i have yet to get any of my fish besides pumpkinseeds on pellets. Im suprised that redfin hasnt tried to much any other fish there.

The Redfin is kind of the king of my tank, he is really big for a Redfin pickerel. I need to get him a bigger tank. I will try giving the crappie mealworms. As long as I keep the Redfin fed he doesn't try to eat the others.
