Well I just got this 46 or 55 gal (not sure) bowfront tank. So far it is empty but I have been building my own background.

Here is what I started with 2 in thick by 9ftx2ft Little to much but cheap less then $2.00 (long couch haha)

I was going to only use the one side

but then I had the idea to use both halves.

Once I had it set how I wanted I started to shape it and add some caves for my fish.
I hollowed out the back piece of stryofoam to make it roomier.

I added one more hole on the back piece to add some depth to it.

Time to check and make sure it fits.

Added a rock statue thing.

And the background. I most likely wont use this background but its what I have for the time being.

The only problem with this tank is well I need a larger tv now. It is a 37in LG and it looks tiny now haha.

The gravel in the tank will be coming out and I will be adding some pool sand that I picked up today. I have a few plants to provide cover and I also will be finishing up my rock background tomorrow hopefully.

More pics will come when I get everything completed.

Nice!

as soon as I get my larger tank I am going to do one up like the one in this video.

The tank he did in this video is half the size I have now but I want a 55 or 75 gallon.

Well almost finished up now. Just need let the cement and silicone dry and then I can add water and start the cycle. Sorry about the blury pic.

Well I did not rinse out my sand when I first got it so I had to change the water a couple times. I really like how it has turned out so far and will be adding plants tomorrow. Well here is a pic after a few water changes.
Still really dirty but I must have changed out at least 100 gallons haha. I had my sink hooked to a hose filling the tank and my siphon cleaner thingy sucking up the dust.

And as it is now after changing the water quite a bit difference as you can see. I did add some type of liquid that is supposed to help with the cloudyness that I got from the LFS.

So far so good I think I should have added one last layer of cement as you can see a few lil spots of white but overall it looks great. Both of those caves were at a perfect height and I really hope it gives the fish some places to hide.

I am using Pool Filter Sand that I got a 50# bag for $10. It is a darker brown whitish color and really complements the gray cement. As soon as I start to add plants its going to look sweet. This is the 1st time I have made my own background let alone even try to do something like this and I encourage any one with a little bit of time and who wants to do something original this is it. I think it really sets off the tank and everyone I have shown has liked it.

Well its almost 2AM haha lil past my bedtime. More pics to come tomorrow.

well I woke up this morning and my water is completely clear. Now off to the local fish store for some plants and then it should be almost finished.
