Hey everyone,
I am getting back into fish keeping after a 3 year break. My first effort back in the hobby is a modest 55 gal. that I have gotten together as a nice cichlid "community" tank..(if there is such a thing..lol)

The stock list for this tank:
1x Jack Dempsey
1x Jewel
2x Green Severum
1x Electric Yellow
1x Kenyi
1x Auratus
1x Orange Zebra

(All fish are 1" or less)


I will be doing a large tank somewhere between 125 & 225 gal. soon.
I have a new found love for Flower Horns, Midas & Red Devils so I will definitely be in the market for at least one in the near future. Any input, direction, or links to some killer threads about Flower Horns, Midas or Red Devils would be much appreciated.

Welcome glad you are here. Check out the Hybrid Forum for the Flowerhorns and the South American/Central American Forums for those.. Youll find lots of nice information.
 
ure mixing africans and sa/ca cichlids ??
 
Thanks for the welcome & the advice on the hybrid section! I love this forum & will definitely be around a lot.

To answer about me mixing Africans with SA/CA cichlids, yes I am mixing it up a bit. I had this combination of cichlids for years before & thought I would go with the same stock list this time around since it was so successful before. :)

Cool! I would take pics but my tank is a bit under the weather at the moment.. Long story short we just went to Florida on vacation & for the first time ever I bought one of those 10 day feeders..Penn Plax Balance 10 Day for cichlids was the product to be exact..The orange "squid", not the white floating squid. I get back from vacation & my tank is orange. The decorations, rock, air hoses, filter media etc etc. was all orange not to mention my water..When I vacuumed my gravel, the water in my bucket looked like dark "Tang"... I have since cleaned everything as best I could without destroying the good bacteria. Horrible product..Only good thing to come out of this is that I did not lose a single fish! I guess I consider myself lucky...
