I'm getting in some breeding pairs next week. One pair is Geophagus Altifrons and the other is Geophagus Tapajos II.

Does anybody use any special chemicals or conditioners like: Blackwater Extract, Cichlid Trace Elements, Spawn Aid, etc?

Have you had better success using these conditioners or just providing the exact environment for the particular species you have?

If i were you i would try to contact "JOEFISH" he used to be the tapajos red head breeder on here. I think he sold them all a while back to TB-077... Hes had some really nice Geos TOO!

I wouldnt try to induce breeding with chemicals, i would try to replicate their environment, and if no breeding occurs, try to simulate "the temp change of water" which may stimulate the fish enough to spawn.

I hope that everything goes well! I love geo's and wish u the best!

PLEASE POST SOME PICS!! Thanks Especially of the Tapajos II.

All my Geos are too small to breed, I have a bunch of Tapajos Red heads from 2.5"-3.5" in a 90G

And i have a Dicrozester, and a Altifrons, in a 120G, I wish i could find a nice female for my DICRO!

for me it's the change in the weather that usually triggers breeding
set up the tank as close to natural as possible
always best if they are used to your water because of water changes etc
wait for a rainy day...
