After taking a break from DIY'ing, it is time for a new project. So ihaveRedHotChunkyPoopers! and I are building 2 stands. One will be for my 55 gallon goldfish tank, and one for my 84 gallon planted tank (planned).

The plans are:

55: 48.25x20x31.75
84: 72.50x20x31.75

They will be built of Oak plywood with oak trim. Stained Red Mahogany with 3-4 coats of poly urethane .

The 55 will hold a 10 gallon hospital tank, as well as the 84 will hold 2 10 gallon breeding tanks.

So without further ado, I will go get to work... Pics tonight.

Can't wait. I always get new ideas from awesome builds like yours.

Thanks,

Spent 4 hours in 100+ degree weather cutting the plywood.

Assembling tomorrow

Well, not as much progress as I wanted but here it is.

Coming along nice! What time of day do you plan to stain it? Staining will be a PITA in 100+ degrees.

Thanks,

Unfortunately summer in Vegas it is 100 before breakfast. Its ok, will do it in the garage to stay some what cool.

The stand for the 55 is almost done. Just need to get 1x12 for the doors, and build a couple drawers and finished. I remembered how much I hate working with oak. But the outcome is work the effort.

Brought into the house , level and solid as a rock with my substancial weight on it.

More in a couple weeks, work is gonna keep me busy til next month.

Looks good so far. Ready to see the other one.

Thanks, I have learned a lot from this forum, and am having a lot of fun using it. When the stands are done I am starting a DIY PVC filter for my 240 and 5 DIY LED lights.
