Hello all. Just a question about fluorescent lighting. I was told I should replace my bulb about every year because whatever light it gives of for the plants in my tank wears off. I have no idea what the science is around this. Does it really make a big difference and why? I also wonder why I can't get these italics off?!?! Lol!

Over time the lamps loose power, I know that after a year I start to see an increase in hair algae an as soon as I replace the lamps it goes away.
