right so i have decided i want to start my new tank as a ca/sa cichlid tank. i currently have a 6" albino tiger oscar in with

2x7" tinfoil barbs,
1x5" silver dollar,
1x4" silver shark
and a couple small plecos

think i have managed to get my hands on a 9" male argentea which i will be collecting on sunday.

mainly looking for ideas on other tank mates. i was looking at adding

4x geos
4x red neck severums

the tank is 225 gal 6'long 2'deep 2.5'tall
4000 lph filtration turnover with 9w UV
4x 40w long t8 white tubes and blue LED's.

tank is goin to have lots of rocks up one end of the tank and a very large piece of bogwood on the other. the background is black and i think the SAND is going to be black aswell(if not i will go with pool filter sand)

cheers, dan

Argentea's my favorite cichlid, would love to see some pics if/when you get it! Sorry can't help much more, kind of new to the hobby, I have heard though that they can get quite aggressive.

i would think a 9 inch argenta(CA) would be too rough for an oscar(SA),but the severums should work.some plecos get huge,i would try to identify what you have, reduce it to only one.i had chocolate cichlid with sevs,he did well.some of your schoolers could be trouble in smaller quantities.silver shark? i think get big and need school, don't think he will do well,i would pass on the argenta or change the stock, build around him

Oscar with Geos and Sevs? Not a good match IMO. Why not go for some more Vieja, Geos, and Severums with 1 type of dither (SD or TB). Keep the Oscar in the tank you currently have him in.
