Go native; and get a Checkered madtom.....just crazy cool looking, or a Slender madtom, they do well in Aquariums.

That depends largely on what is already in there. Many cats will be specific about what they can tolerate and who they will annoy or eat. If it's the two firemouths, most catfish would love to eat baby cichlids so breeding would be out. But there are a lot of options for sure if that's all that's in there.

The tadpole madtom does fine at subtropical temps! Mine was at 78ºF and lived a normal lifespan.

I wasnt familiar we these guys but i googled them and they kinda look like juvi. electric cats... it would be cool but how about tank mates... if not these guys i would def do cory cats. they come in so many different colors, they're always active, and you dont have to worry about tank mates

Slender madtoms have been kept successfully with Chubs and medium sized sunfish (Longear and Spotted) and Im sure would do well with many surface and midlevel residing fish.

Btdarters, Sachs Aquaculture and Jonahs aquarium have all had them in the past.
