Recently I was out at a couple fish stores with a friend. I needed something else to help my tsn clean up the leftovers off the bottom of my tank(all babys) so I bought a couple random catfish on a whim. According to the store its a "Highfin bull shark" but I did a little research and found it to be a "Black Fin Catfish" (Hexanematichthys seemanni). I love them. They never hide, eat everything that makes it to the bottom, dont get to big and look pretty neat. Here's my problem. They turn brackish to salt as they mature. My TSN will eventually out grow my tank. I knew that going in. What can I get that is comparable to these awesome little guys that I can keep forever?

The second one isn't to bad except it says it hides a lot... i already have my tsn that does that enough for everyone in the tank. Do you think these fish would die if kept in fresh water? They are everything I want... except fresh water. Fairly big deal I would guess. It's kinda depressing.

for the black fin...they need to be in brackish when juvies..its best to keep adults in full salt..if kept in freswater they will deteriorate

remove decorations for the tsn, he won't hide then. They will become aclimated to your hand, and you can hand feed them. Mine swims to the top when it sees my hand. I have no decorations with my big catfish. They are healthy and not skittish at all. I find that they get dammaged less when there is no decorations, and they are not as people shy. They have no choice lol. But if you like to have decorations then you can place them where when they hide it's where you can see them!
