I just picked up eight 2" Chalceus macrolepidotus today. For now they are growing out in my 135 along with seven Guianacara geayi and 15 SB Geophagus steindachneri. Eventually they will go into my 210 with my eartheaters, but I wanted to bulk them up a bit first. I have been looking for a group of these for a while and it is really cool to find them at such a small size. I am hoping that growing them up from juveniles will help curb their skittishness. We'll see...

Nice. I've always wanted to keep some, but they never quite fit into my plans. Looking forward to see them bulked up in the 210 :)

These guys a fun to keep, as they get older you can start feeding them crickets which will fatten them up a lot faster. But the best part is watching them go crazy for them.

Any update on these guys? Do they "school" if kept in a group?

I kept one by himself and he would just hover in one spot. I'm curious if I got 6 to 8 of them whether or not they would loosen up and swim around a bit more.
They do keep in a tight school most of the time, it is pretty cool the way they all align with each other.

i got a school of them they are about 1 foot long they are still very skittish
Mine are up to about 4" or 5" - they definitely are skittish, I don't think that ever really calm down that much...
