i didnt know bangkanensis were in the hobby.
pulchra and ornaptinnis get to 10 inches.
but around 8-9 inches more likely.
their about the same but different patterns.
not too aggressive from what ive seen.
wont kill each other.
bangkanensis im not sure.
never seen one in the hoby before.
but i think they only get to around 5 inches.

Hello,Danny........

first of all :

You will not get ornatipinnis if you order them!!!

I know 2 cases, one in the UK and one in Germany, were Ch. ornatipinnis were ordered and pulchra were delivered!!

There is one guy ,from Singapore, who I Think ,has no clou of Channas,he is selling bigger pulchras as ornatipinnis!

So watch out........

Only pulchras are available!
For caring pulchras:
They come from a small hill stream in the Rakhine state of Myanmar!
They need cooler water, because in hottest period of the year the water temperature is not going higher than 25°C!

You need a very well structured tank, with a lot of cobble stones where they can hide!!!!
If they see each other they attack!!!
most Important:
A very big pump for circulation!!!
I keep several pulchras in a tank of about 120 Litres (95 cm length x 50 cm deep x 30 cm high)
I have installed a pump (Tunze Turbelle)that makes 6000 (six thousand!!!!!) litres per hour!!!
They like it........and they are calm now!

About bankanensis:
Here in Germany it is no problem to buy them!
For mysel I have got 2 different varieties of Ch. bankanensis at home...........
One varitiy is about 30cm and the other grows not bigger than 20cm maximum size!

I have breed them ,too.........

What you need is very soft and acidic water (PH 5-6) to make them feel comfortable!
Minimum tank size for bankanensis: 1m in length!

They could be qite agressive to each other.....so you need a well structured tank as well!!!

Regards
Pascal
