Ok, so I went to the petco today just to get some extra dithers. The store was having some good sales with tigers barbs and black tail tetras. Petco was selling 5 of each for $5. So ofcourse, I bought 5 of each and added them to my tank. So far, very good with no casualities... I also purchased some nls 3mm sinking pellets. I was going to starve my shoal for a few days in order for them to get hooked on the new pellets.. But my gf...... wanted to be the first to feed the pellets first to the catfish and the single red tail tetra for fun :screwy:. So I let her add like 5-10 pellets just for the tankmates. But guess what... few of the piranhas jumped on it! :WHOA: I was in awe!! I threw in about 20 more pellets and once again SHOCKED me because they devoured them! I couldn't thank my gf more for her curiousity because her curiousity fed the piranhas. Im so lucky to get my shoals hooked so easily. The new chapter of my shoal has begun because now I am going to track their progress!:naughty:

Yeah I decided to feed them pellets about 4 times a week with the fish/shrimp the other remaining days. If I can get some healthy critters then I will do so. I also am going to the lfs to get about $10 of ghost shrimps. I pretty sure my shoal never seen them before... the previous owner told me he used to feed it only feeders/occasional chicken and that's it.....

the thing with pellet is it packs a lot of nutrient in very small size and if you feed enough so that the fish are "full" they end up taking in a lot more calories and if they are not burned off over time the fish can become obese overtime.
as your rbp get big they don't need to be fed everyday so depends on size you can start to cut back on feeding.

Hm great advice/warning boss! Currently I only feed them once a day. And when I do feed then, its a generous amount of not over filling them. Plus by night they get extremely hungry and active and know that it's feeding time. Today i fed about 20 3mm pellets which was basically a very very light snack. But definitely I will keep that it mind! You think feeding them just once a day is good enough?

Once a day is fine, but only 1-2 pellets per fish might not suffice, they only end up digesting half the food they eat the other half just gets pooped out. U have 11 rbp so add 30 pellets imo, but variety is also beneficial at their current age, so keep that in mind. Fat fish equal dead fish eventually.

Yeah currently my shoal is so comfortable in their tank that they won't stop eating... That's why I make sure to put the perfect portion or shrimp/whitefish so that each gets some but still have then swimming wildly for more ^^ Pellets I will probably dropp about 30-40 because they are really small. It's the 3mm ones..
