So I just bought a new Chichla and my LFS said it was a an orino. It's still stressed atm. It hasn't eaten anything yet, Should I buy it another one ? Instead of having one? And from changing it off to live food, should I just starve it and then try feeding them frozen shrimp? But for now it's just hiding behind a rock. I think I just need to give it some time to come out.

How big is your tank and new orino, also is there any tankmates? Yeah give it some time, it'll come out.

My tank currently is a 70g , the orino is just about 3-4" , there's a giant danio in there and that's about it.

You should get another 1 or 2. Pbass do better in groups, that way there's competition for food and theyre not so shy. Do you have a bigger tank to put them into?

In the future when they're biggier i have a biggier tank

You'll need at least a 180g within 12 months. It's best to keep more than one cichla too. Try feeding it shrimp bloodworm and lance fish. Also get another cichlid in there that eats pellets, that will encourage them to copy.

when you go get another one grab atleast 2....cichla dont do well in 2's cause you will have one picking on the other. YOu need 3 or more to have happier cichla.

I wouldn't starve your fish. He is just getting acclimated to a new environment and needs to eat. You can worry about what to feed him once he's acclimated and not hiding behind a rock. As the others said, getting more pbass will make him more aggressive when you put food in the tank. Just make sure they are the same size so he doesn't become food. Lets see some pics.
