just got my 12" cichla 6 days ago and he hasnt eaten since then. i tried fresh market shrimps, massivore, chicken hot dogs, and feeder goldys. he showed interest in the goldy, yesterday he ate it and i found it spit out this morning. now there are 2 live goldfish in the tank and he shows not interest in them. hes in a 180 gal tank and hes the biggest fish in the tank. i took out the agressive fish about 4 days ago so hes no longer stressed and swims freely. his colour is still really nice and bright and he looks heathy but he hasnt eaten a thing for 6 days. i really dont want him to die on me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as to foods to try or things to stimulate apetite. even if its live food i dont care, as long as he eats. (now i know why this fish was so cheap)

Whats the temp at? If below 86 i'd crank it up a little bit...even tho he's 12" and doesnt really need the high temps, it will speed up his metabilism. and may snap him out of his hunger strike.
WOAH! im actually embarassed cause i feel like such an idiot, i didnt even think of my water temp. my heaters were set at 77 for my SA cichlids, and i just figured it was fine cause my other two 7`` cichla were doing fine in that temp. i cranked it up, hopefully he eats tonight, its a nigromaculata.. hes really awesome fish.
HOORAY! 4 HOURS AFTER TURNING THE TEMP UP THERE IS A GOLDIFSH GONE AND A BUMP IN HIS BELLY
