For my new african ciclid tank I know I need a high PH and I have heard a specific gravity of around 1.008 with salt water

1) What type of salt do I use for my tank, can I use regular marine salt to raise the specific gravity of the water or do I need special cichlid salt?

2) To raise my ph what would be the best method, My ph starts around 6.7 out the tap, what addititves would be best to buy?

Thanks Guys!

well most importantly is to keep their environment clean and stable. I personally don't use salt at all, i hear though it does help them if they get sick. As for the pH i just use a Kent marine cichlid buffer and keep it around 8 pH.
