Hello I'm a new member and I breed guppies. But I've always loved cichlids cause of their color and shape. So I set up a 30 gallon tank for cichlids and I have two male fire mouth cichlids and going to buy females soon. But I also want to buy ram cichlids. Can I put ram cichlids with them or will I have problems?

Welcome to MFK! I think it will depend on the fish but my experience with Firemouths is they will probably bully the rams pretty badly. My largest Firemouth didn't inflict much damage but he constantly chased and flared up at anything that moved.

I tried him in every tank I own and finally had to re-home him because he was such a bully, even to larger Central American species.

Welcome to MFK. IMO Firemouths will be too much for Rams especially if you get a breeding pair. A 30 gallon tank would be perfect for a few pairs of Rams.

Ok I already have fire mouth cichlids in there so I will just have to stick with them for now. cause I have 3 other tank but I breed guppies so they all have guppies in them.

A 30g might be huge for guppies, but not for most cichlids. I would only do 2 firemouths in a tank like this. You will lose some of the guppies as the firemouths get bigger. If you like the guppies I suggest you take the firemouths back and get some rams. Rams are very peaceful and won't be snaking on your guppies like the firemouths will. They might eat fry as any cichlid would. A 30g is really only suitable for a firemouth pair as they get 6'' full grown and are territorial.

My cichlids are in a complete different tank than my guppies. My guppies are in a 75 gallon tank with tetras and other fish. I want to breed my cichlids cause breed guppies but I want to try breeding more colorful fish. and I'm think about taking my firemouth cichlids back because i love the color of my Rams more than the firemouth.

If I didn't want to breed my rams could I get away with putting a pair of ram cichlids in my 75 gallon tank with my guppies? Without the rams are overly aggressive to my tetras and guppies?

Rams will eat the young but so will the tetras and guppys. They are pretty mellow and will be fine otherwise. Rams like wamer water so depending on the tank teperature that could be an issue. Rams prefer and do best in soft water in the low to mid 80's.
