Well as you may remember i just suffered the loss of one of my all-time fav fish JD who was a male jack dempsey
(pic 1). I rescued him from petco about a year ago, someone didn't want him so they brought him in and because im friends with all the staff they let me take him. He was bred and old when i got him so i was like a nursing home for him and i hape i gave him a good home for him to live out the rest of his life in.
I could never replace JD however when i was at petco last inght i noticed some unusually large fish (most of the fish are babies so fully grown fish are unusual). The person who was on told me that the manager got rid of her tank and was giving them away so i got 4 new cichlids
. 3 JDs and a firemouth. If i'm right two of the JDs are male and one is female. The manager was there when i was leaving and said she had never had a problem with them fighting in her 55 so i put them together (note: the smaller had some signs of infection). However this morning the smaller was beat up pretty bad, i guess the wounds that caused the infection had healed but the infection was still there so i didn't take any pics cus i don't think he'll make it (i did remove him from that tank though) anyway but here is the male (photo 2-4) and the female (5-6) and the firemouth (7-9). theres no replacing JD, but its a start. Sorry for the bad photography too im really bad at taking pics of fish.
