Hi -

I recently (like today) got a ~4 inch ck and I put him into a 125 gallon tank with a similar sized NTT, sun cat and a ~12 inch pike cichlid. I know the pike is a threat but it is a very mellow pike, only displaying aggression when other fish touch it or swim into its lair. In any case, there are other areas to hide for the ck. Instead, however, it sits on the bottom. It also appears as if parts of the ck's skin are shedding. Just wondering if anyone knows what may be causing this and what it entails.

Check your water parameters. What your water parameters btw?

My CK and other featherfins used to have that slime coat shedding when my tank was completely covered. I later put some holes on the plastic cover to let some of the gas out and they went back to normal.

i just did one (earlier in the day) before putting him in. Water parameters are all fine (0ppm ammonia, 0 nitrates and nitrites). Is it possible that the datnoid did it?

Take some pics of the problem. If it look like what I think it is then it's best to do water change and bump the temp to 84F.
