Hello everybody, we'll I recently noticed how much I love watching my fish tank and seeing how they interact ect... but I only had my Jack Dempsey in there so it looked really bare

Over the last 3 days I have picked up three fish

I first picked up a "needle nose gar" or, what I like to call the "Unknown Lanky Looking Stalker Fish" or ULLSF for short (that's his name as of today)

Then, I picked up a big red tail tinfoil barb, no name yet lol

And then today, I picked up a clown knife fish, hes just gorgeous! and tiny... about 2 inches

Here's some pics for you guys, comments/suggestions on my aquascaping would be greatly appreciated

the entire tank (damn that barb moves fast):

Clown Knife and my Jack dempsey (best shot I could get of the clown.. hes hidden pretty well):

ULLSF, stalking as always:

the nameless red tail tinfoil barb:

If anybody is wondering, the minnows are not part of the collection LOL.. I'm sure I will wake up and they will all be gone like the guppies I put in when there was only the stalker fish and the JD..

so I think it will be carnage (besides the barb cuz hes a puss..)

Thanks for looking everybody! Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Nice fish, but i would try to get a more natural setup with gravel/sand, driftwood, green plants.

I hope you are willing to get a 300+ gallon tank.

Nice fish, but i would try to get a more natural setup with gravel/sand, driftwood, green plants.

I hope you are willing to get a 300+ gallon tank.

The only problem is that I am on a 2nd floor (3rd if you count the basement...) so a 100g+ tank would certainly crash through my floor. Are there any solutions to this? My step sisters husband is a construction worker and he said that there's no way it would hold the weight...

I calculated it and a 100g is 1042 pounds, so.. yeah. I was always told that I could have a aquarium up to 125gallon in my room up until now :l

is it possible that if I get a bigger tank that I can support it across more of the floor? so it distributes the weight?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated (if worse comes to worse, I can always return the clown knife or sell it to another LFS and just keep the JD, Jewel, Managuense, GT, Pleco and needle nose, and then upgrade to like a 75 - 90 gallon (depending on what would be too heavy..)

and yes, Today I picked up a Jeweled cichlid, a managuense cichlid and a green terror. I also got a little pleco to clean up the tank some (that's why I'm thinking of getting rid of the clown... the managuense is going to get huge so two big fish in a 65 - 90 gallon plus the others would be a little much no?

My tank right now is 3 ft long, 2 ft high and 18 inches wide. If I upgraded to something that is 4 feet long, 2 feet wide and 15 inches or less tall would they all be happy so long as I set up multiple territory zones ect?

I have seen plenty of tanks with these same cichlids cohabing and they aren't 300 gallons.. I know a person or two who keeps almost the same mix ive got in a 80 or 90 gallon and they are all fine, healthy happy fish (he doesn't have the clown or needle fish though.. just the cichlids I have and one or two more)

So... lots of thoughts going through my head...

nice fish....plan a bigger tank real soon

Thanks, Gotta figure out what the biggest aquarium I could get is... as long as it doesn't fall through my floor, I'm good

nice group of fish i would be more concerned about aggression as far as short term problems go jaguar/managuense cichlids are useually very aggressive and would have no problem shredding all of the other fish in your tank once it gets bigger so keep an eye on it

I would add a thin layer of sand to the tank that would make it look alot better pool filter sand from home depot works or i use whats called pavers sand both are really cheap just make sure you rinse it really we'll to make sure you don't cloud up the water with dust
