So I have a 52-gallon tank with a bristle nose pleco and a Fluval U4 filter in it. I was wondering if I could stock it with:

5-10 Giant Danio
10 barbs (Odessa or gold)
An opaline gourami/ blood heart parrotfish
6 panda corys

Maybe an ornate bichir?- I love the look of them.

Thanks in advance,

I'd go with the Danios, Odessa Barbs & Gourami. Instead of Cory Cats, go with small variety Botia Loaches. The Ornate Bichir grows way to big for a 52 gal. tank. I'm not a big fan of BP's. IMO, it would look out of place in your proposed stock list.

Why botia loaches instead cories?

Cory Cats originate from a different continent than the rest of the proposed stock. Botias would complete something closer to a biotype community. Corys can be a little on the fragile side. IMO, Botias are more durable & better scavengers. Look at the Botia Striatas (Zebra Loach) & Botia Histrionica Loach, maybe even the YoYo Loach. YoYos can sometimes be a little aggressive. I keep some of the bigger variety Botias. Great scavengers.
