So I noticed my female convict hiding in a piece of decor a lot lately and today I noticed she was out and about. When I looked closer she has a bunch of free swimming fry with her. There are not as many as I thought there would be. The pair have only been in the tank for a short while together maybe a couple of weeks. I am guessing there are 10 to 15 from what I can see. On my way to the store to get some fry food.
Will post some pics later if I can get some.

omega one flakes is what i feed my fry.

congrats on the fry. convicts make good parents. do they have tnakmates? what is the setup like?

They are in a 56 gallon. All juvie fish right now.
1 GT Juvie
1 Salvini Juvie
2 Convict juvies (parents)
1 Bichir Juvie
1 Common pleco

Parents are guarding the fry well and none of the other fish are bothering them. I have omega one flakes which is one of the things I feed this tank normally and just got some baby brine shrimp cubes. This is my first fry from convicts. I have bred guppies before but that has been it. Going to leave them with the parents.

ya you may notice all ur other fish stay on one side of the tank ;) ive seen a tiny pair of convicts keep a 5-6" fish away easy. the parents will be good to the babies, but being there first time there might be a point fr them when kids are to much especially with tanks mates.

Tank mates are being quite respectful either by choice or force. What is the normal number of fry in a batch for convicts? Here are some pics I got. a couple of good ones and some that were blurry. They are tough to get pictures of.

i had like around 70 or 50. most of them died and i got 2 now that r 3/4 inch big

IF YOU WANT MOST OF THEM TO STAY AROUND SEPERATE THEM FROM ALL THE OTHER FISH INCLUDING THE PAREANTS AND THEY SHOULD ALL LIVE I DID THAT WITH MY FRY AND NOW I HAVE ABOUT 100-150 INCH AND A HALF FRY SWIMING AROUND IN THERE OWN TANK WELL THERE NOT FRY ANYMORE

They will be around the parents for a bit, but later they will venture on their own. That is when other fish will eat them. You can keep them in there for a little bit, but I'd plan to move them or else you will probably lose them all. Convicts can have a larger amount of babies too, some may have been eaten already, or perhaps the cons are young, which in time they will have larger amounts. I'd also seperate for the safety of the other fish. This kinda thing will cause fights in a tank.
