I purchased a new Coralife Light fixture yesterday. It's 48" and was on for about 5 hours yesterday. As I had some family over for a BBQ. I woke up today to see my tank pretty cloudy. Is this an algae bloom? I have done a 30% wc one day prior to the new lights.

I'll get some readings later tonight. Anyways, should I do another WC to clear the water up? Or should I just leave it be until this weekends scheduled WC?

More info on tank; Cycled with established canister filter for approx 2 weeks. Running for 2+ months.

Could be algae bloom, I would double check the ammonia just to be sure.

just leave it alone. I doubt it had anything to do with the lights though as they were only on 5 hours. Could just be a bloom.

Is your new light alot brighter than your old setup?

probably a harmless algae/bacteria bloom. dont worry about it.

I was running 0 lights! Ever since the aro was a juvi it didn't enjoy it. So I've never really bothered. Only until I built the 240 I began looking for a decent set of lights. Water has always been crystal clear until now! But thanks for the advice!

Yep, I would say you are just having an algae bloom. Kinda quick, but it could still happen.
