These lights recently got an upgrade. I just recently got a 48" one of these. The new series is supposed to run cooler and emit more light. It also comes with a new style of riser for the lights that is one solid piece that is very well made. The new ventilation system on these is much better. They do indeed stay cooler than the older models. I have a 24" of the older style of this light. The hot side of the 48" is cooler than the cool side of the 24". It is also cooler than any of my other PC hoods, or T5 bulbs. The hot end is nearly room temperature. They do emit a tiny bit more light. These lights get two thumbs up from me.
