- been a while since I've posted... still read, things have been hectic with the 4th baby. Anyways....

A 'too good to be true' classified went up: 4 year old corn snake with cracked 33g, undertank heater, and a few in-tank accessories. Passiontiger brought it home last night. The ad, and the owners, claimed the snake was aggressive due to lack of handling - haven't seen that yet.

The tank had a layer of filth in it, including some old shed still there. She got most of that cleaned out. The water she previously emptied was dark brown: it got fresh water. And when the snake went back into the tank, it immediately began to drink like a fish.

The previous owners said they were feeding it pinkies. A 4 year old snake. And they were feeding it live pinkies. We were worried it wouldn't take frozen... or an adult... but it wolfed it down all right, so good news there.

I got my first look at him/her this morning, and I've never seen a snake so dehydrated. Parts of the body look like they're folding up on itself. As I said above, it's supposed to be 4 years old, but it's quite a bit smaller than my 2 year old king (pretty sure they should be comparable in size). it was advertised as a ghost... I think it's just an albino.

Ok, a few pics (and I'm no professional).

Just a sizing shot, she's in an empty 10g to give a comparison.

Some side-on shots that show the level of dehydration in the snake.

Profile shot... pink eyes, pretty sure that seals it as albino.

And after the photo shoot and a water change in the bowl, another drinking binge.

By layer we are referring to 3.5 inches of packed down shavings that had regerg, shed and scat all through it. The cold side of the tank was caked with urine as well. GROSS!
Stating "cold side" is a little deceiving as the previous owners stated that they had the heater turned off since spring. Not sure if we note where we live but we are in P.E.I. canada. Approximately 300 miles NE of Maine. Not exactly warm.
When I got to see the snake last night there were oohs and Ahhhs as I picked it up without getting bit. WTF??
She/he/it was freezing cold to touch. Much colder than it should have been.
No agression at all toward me or strike seen to anything not even the frozen I gave it last night after getting the heater turned on for about two hours and getting her to drink.
Here is a Pre-cleanup picture of the tank with the water and the heat on.

Nope it's a 100% snow corn albinos are yellow red and orange just missing the black pigment the snow is also missing the red pigment so all thats left is a white and yellow snake soak it in warm water once a day for a week and start feeding it small mice or hopper size for two weeks or so then switch to large mice

A good warm soak would probably be good for her. Good thing about corns is the eat like pigs. She will be healthy in no time. Best of luck with her.

Passion is forcing me to post that she's feeling redeemed, because she was right that it was a snow, and I was wrong about it being just an albino. That having posted such, I will be going to my room without supper.

she would do fine in either tank. good luck with her.

good luck!
what part of the island are you from?
I saw the ad on usedpei and it was indeed a too good to be true thing
Im picking up a beardy for free tomorrow and am expecting a way to good to be true incident in which it will be classified as a rescue lol

I think I recall the person with the snake coming in and getting pinkies at critters
she specifically asked for small ones for her 3 year old corn
and then I went on telling her it should be feeding on bigger stuff and she proceeded to shower some BS
well good luck to yah!

Up by Vernon River.
And if you work at Critters, you probably know me (and Passiontiger) since we get our mice there.

As to the BS: the teenager in the house who "owned" the snake used to work at Pets Unlimited...
