I was browsing a few LFS with some friends and came across this little guy in a discus tank.

Right away I thought Marmokreb (the self-cloning crayfish), what do you think?

The crayfish resembles a marbled crayfish, but I think its a different kind of cray. The eyes seem different and so do the patterns on its tail. I believe it is not a marbled crayfish. They do look alike though.

Yes, that is a marble crayfish. You will have tons of babies soon. i have them and they have babies like crazy.

what are the tank requirements for these guys?..looking at getting one to make feeders.

Freshwater, 10 gallon tank for one, no ammonia or nitrites, stable water parameters, variety of foods, i have lobster food i got from big als. Temp i THINK is about 78 degrees, that is what mine is at. They love potatos for some reason, raw potatos.

Cool thanks! She started hiding yesterday and tucking her tail under her, do you think shes ready to reproduce?

Could very well be. I know mine go into hiding and tuck their tails. About 30 days later you'll see little ones everywhere in the tank. I have a 55 gallon with about 15 adults and 30-40 babies. Another is berried and about to release more. They are my favorite food source for my puffers.

Yes i do think she is ready. Good luck, it really is facinating to watch. You should see the eggs hanging down in a while.

How big do their babies get and how long does it take?

That's exactly why I'm raising these because I'm planning to setup a red-eye puffer tank, but I want to produce the food first so I'll be ready. What kind of puffers do you have?

These crays grow to 5" I believe. I have 5 babies I got at 1" from a member Gordonw, I've only had then a couple weeks so haven't noticed much growth, but one of them definitely molted.
