I found these 2 little ones at one of my lfs. The employee didn’t know exactly what they were except for the fact that they’re in the cryptoheros family. They’re under 2”. The slightly larger one is showing a bit more color and than the smaller one but they are both still pretty washed out. They both have slight gold/orange coloration on their bellies. Is it safe to assume I have 2 ladies because of the belly blotch? I’m guessing they’re standard HRPs but anyone think differently? I currently have them set up in a 30 gallon grow out by themselves. I had a small female convict in there with them but she was chasing and attacking them so I removed her.

They look like LFS convicts to me. I wouldn't call them HRPs unless you know where they came from. It is so easy for the amatitlania/cryptoheros species to hybridize, you never know what they really are unless you get them from a reputable breeder.

Ok thanks. I’ll post pics as they grow.

Ok, so I was checking out the lfs that I got these 2 from today. The tank that I got them from is now labeled as “Siquia Rio Claro”. One of the females that I have at home has already spawned with my pink con/blood parrot hybrid and they are currently looking after one day old wrigglers now. Her face and lower half of her body have turned black and her colors have intensified. She defends her territory fearlessly and is a lot of fun to watch.

they aren't HRP's but they certainly are of amatitlania/cryptoheros siquia
some type of regional variant, I remember Jeff Rapps had some that were like that.

they look like they could be rio cabuya, but cabuya has more orange.
coloration does kind of match though.
