Went to my lfs and found one of these fellas for $5.00, couldn't resist so now he's in his new home =)

I don't know a whole lot a out these guys, so any input won't help with sexing and other info. I did all the research I could on them but there wasn't a whole lot.

It also looks a bit thin.. It's still scared of me and won't eat.

Your Nandopsis tetracanthus looks like a male, but a bit hard to tell, because it's hard to see the dorsal.
In females the dorsal has a solid color dark patch, and in general she will have dark markings, females are also generally more torpedo shaped.

Below is an adult male, note the lighter markings in the dorsal, and more steep profile. Males are also generally larger, reaching 10" or more, females about 6"

They can be quite aggressive if kept with other similar shaped, similar colored cichlids, regarding them as competition for prey, and territory.

The Cuban (adult) looks great! And it has no tank mates in a 55 gal. It's swimming more but doesn't know where to look for food.. Considering getting sinking pellets or presoaking his Hikari pellets but idk. He's eaten one of my feeder rosys so far (bred at home FYI) but it was a tiny feeder and it hasn't eaten since..
