very nice looking, i personally don't really like long rods, but i assume this if for the surf? what kind of reels u got for those?

ya they're for the surf. my dads runnin a saltist 50 w/30lb mono with 50lb shock leader and im running a ABU BG9000CT with 300yrds of 50lb braid attached to 30lb Mono topshot and 50lb shock leader.

got my reel today! and some freebies!

i spooled it up with 50lb mono to test the drag. it came out over 15lbs at 3/4 buttoned down.

Rod in action.

they cast Great! was able to cast al the topshot off of my reel (down to the braid wich was about 110-115 yrds) with 5oz pyramid and whole squid. As you can see from the pic. the rods have a mod. fast action they have a strong back bone able to carry 18-20lbs of drag.

Despite being made of glass, they recover fairly fast and there is no whiping during the cast!

Nice reel! It's good to see someone else fishes with conventional reels, they are so much better for landing large fish. I am a Penn fan, but that reel looks killer.

So true, taking apart Penn reels can be tricky. I've done the same. :)
