Honestly, I'm still learning this camera so I just put them in "sport" mode. I used the D80 a ton before but I'm new to the D5000. I need to get a tripod because a lot of the pictures were blurry. The main key was to turn on the multiple exposure setting and just fire photos. I went through about 500 photos and picked out the best ones. With a tripod and remote, I know I could get a lot better photos.

the pics are excellent and your tanks and fish are gorgeous.. i will try the multiple setting... i know we go through alot of pics to find the good ones.. but the ones you chose are awesome.. if i learn anything i will let you know...

A tripod has nothing to do with it.

Surely a tripod would help?
Nice.

How would a tripod have nothing to do with it?

The fish are typically moving around so if the camera is perfectly still, on a tripod, it is going to improve the clarity of your photos dramatically.

exactly, the fish are moving around so no matter how still you get the camera their will always be motion blur with the subject (unless it is perfectly still which is very rare).

But why would a moving camera ever help the situation? When using the correct aperture, f stop & shutter speed, the last thing you want is the camera moving too.
